In the vibrant city of Bergisch Gladbach, the annual tradition of fostering creativity and promoting global justice through play continued this year. The city association "One World Bergisch Gladbach" e.V., an interest group for volunteer work on questions of One World work in Germany and abroad, organised the 2024 competition under the extended motto "Playing - Paths to Fun, Education, Sociability, Problem-Solving, and More".

This year's project, much like previous ones, sought to highlight playing as a versatile tool for education, community cohesion, and knowledge conveyance. The emphasis was on sustainability and climate protection, with the aim of contributing to global human development. The goals of the 2024 project included reflecting culture, promoting peace education, improving environmental awareness, and enhancing communication.

The competition was open to various formats, not just specific types of actions. Schools, kindergartens, non-profit associations, sports associations, and individuals organizing creative actions in the field of "Playing" were invited to participate. In-person and online actions were eligible, including theatre performances, exhibitions, game evenings, action days, projects, lectures with discussion, and experience events.

The award ceremony took place at the Bergisch Gladbach town hall, where the Krea-Jugendclub was announced as the first-place winner, receiving 500 euros in prize money. Other winners included KiTa Dreckspatz, Mechtild Münzer together with Bauernhof im Koffer, Nutrition Council Bergisches Land e.V. and Amnesty, who each received 150 or 100 euros in prize money.

The 2024 competition continues the tradition of annual projects organised by "One World Bergisch Gladbach" e.V., supported by the city of Bergisch Gladbach and the culture and environmental foundation of the Cologne district savings bank. The prize money for the 2024 competition is 1000 euros, donated by the culture and environmental foundation of the Cologne district savings bank.

As for the upcoming projects of "One World Bergisch Gladbach" e.V. in 2024, specifically focused on sustainability, climate protection, and play, detailed information is not yet available. To stay updated, we recommend visiting their official website or social media channels, checking local Bergisch Gladbach municipal publications or newsletters for announcements related to community and environmental initiatives, or contacting the association directly for their project plans or annual program.

Schools and kindergartens participating in the competition were encouraged to develop creative actions that aim for education and self-development, aligning with the extended motto of the event. The 2024 project also invites non-profit associations, sports associations, and individuals to propose innovative projects under the theme of 'playing', with a focus on sustainability, climate protection, culture, peace education, environmental awareness, and communication.
