Writer's Digest University Announces August 2025 Course Lineup
Writer's Digest University, in partnership with the University on your website, is excited to announce a diverse selection of screenwriting courses for August 2025. These courses, led by industry experts, aim to help aspiring writers hone their craft and take their screenplays to the next level.
"The Nitty Gritty of Spec"
Kickstart your August with Dave Trottier's one-week intensive course, "The Nitty Gritty of Spec". From August 28 to September 4, 2025, learn the art of writing compelling action and dialogue. Trottier, a produced screenwriter, script consultant, award-winning teacher, and author of The Screenwriter's Bible, will guide you through the process. Attendees will have the opportunity to chat with the instructor during the live event and ask questions. The course includes written lectures, writing exercises, and personalized feedback on assignments, culminating in Trottier's evaluation of five pages of a participant's spec script at the end.
Screenplay Treatment Workshops
Bryan Young leads the "21 Days to Your Screenplay Treatment" course from August 7 to August 28, 2025. This workshop helps students create a screenplay treatment and a strong log line, with lectures, exercises, and personalized feedback.
Feature Film Writing Course
