The night of August 10, 2025, is set to be a memorable one as the Universum Bremen hosts a unique Star Gazing Concert. This event, a fusion of music and astronomy, promises an unforgettable experience that connects the sensory and intellectual allure of music with the wonder of observing the night sky.

Admission begins at 7:00 PM, and the concert proper commences at 7:30 PM, lasting until 10:30 PM. The concert will take place on the plaza of the Universum Bremen, where a diverse lineup of musicians from various genres will perform.

Ameel Hotaky, a singer-songwriter from Weyhe, will be gracing the stage. Known for teaching herself various instruments and creating loops for her performances, she is sure to provide an engaging opening act. The concert will also feature the 1st Bremen Ukulele Orchestra, a fixture of the Bremen music scene for over a decade, who will play chansons, pop songs, and shanties on their small four-stringed guitars.

The highlight of the night, however, will be the appearance of the Perseids, a regular meteor shower that can be observed until mid-August. Expect countless shooting stars to light up the night sky as you listen to the soothing melodies.

Astronomer Andreas Vogel from the Olbers Planetarium in Bremen will frame the evening with thought-provoking journeys up to the stars, guiding the audience through the cosmos. Saliou Cissokho, a west African musician who has lived and made music in many places, will also be performing. Using the kora, a 21-stringed harp, he brings a unique cultural flavour to the event.

The Star Gazing Concert is more than just a musical performance; it is an educational and inspirational event that strengthens cultural ties to astronomy. By combining music and star gazing, it spotlights the need to protect dark sky preserves from artificial light and promotes community building and tourism.
