The Philippines Shines at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025

The Philippines is making a significant impact at the Frankfurt Book Fair, one of the world's largest international book fairs, with a 2,000-square-meter presence beyond the PHL Guest of Honour (GOH) Pavilion.

The PHL GOH Pavilion, curated by Patrick Flores and designed by Stanley Ruiz, will host over 100 talks, readings, and performances, featuring more than 500 Philippine book titles on display. Notable speakers include Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Ressa and trauma journalist Patricia Evangelista.

Karina Bolasco curates the talks, readings, and performances at the PHL GOH Pavilion. Performers include Morobeats, Justin and Janna Texon, Kuwerdas Filipinas, Akayu, and National Living Treasure Rosie Sula.

The publishing industry plays a key role in visibility, opening markets for film, music, design, and tourism. In 2023, enterprises registered with the National Book Development Board (NBDB) reported sales of ₱13.76 billion, an increase from 2020's all-time low sales of ₱4.97 billion. The NBDB's Translation Subsidy Program has supported the translation of 173 titles since 2024.
