Two Georgetown University Students Bag 2025 Schwarzman Scholarships
Two Georgetown University alumni and students have been selected for the 2025 Schwarzman Scholarship, a highly competitive one-year master's degree program in China. Schaun Ho, a 2020 alumnus who now works as a due diligence consultant, and Harry Yang, a transfer student studying culture and international relations, are among the 150 Schwarzman Scholars from 38 countries chosen from a pool of nearly 5,000 applicants.
The Schwarzman Scholars Program, hosted at Tsinghua University in Beijing, is an opportunity for promising leaders from around the world to study global affairs, while immersed in China's political, economic, and cultural environment. Along with other Georgetown alumni, including Rhodes Scholar Zhicheng Wang, François Valentin, and Nicole Weinrauch, Ho and Yang will soon join this distinguished community.
Hailing from Macau, China, Ho attended high school in Pennsylvania before studying at Georgetown and spending time abroad in countries such as Israel, the United Kingdom, and France. His diverse experiences helped foster his interest in international relations, leading him to apply for the Schwarzman Scholarship. Upon graduating from Georgetown, Ho worked in Hong Kong for two years before earning a master's in European and international public policy from the London School of Economics.
Yang, who grew up in Beijing and formerly studied art at the Rhode Island School of Design, transferred to Georgetown in 2023 due to his growing interest in the humanities and social sciences. He now pursues a major in culture and politics within the School of Foreign Service. During his time at Georgetown, Yang has collaborated with organizations like Georgetown Model United Nations and the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs.
Both recipients are eager to embark on this new chapter in their academic journey, where they hope to deepen their understanding of China and its role in the global community. In addition to learning from their peers and immersing themselves in Chinese culture, they look forward to exploring their interests in areas like environmental protection and cultural preservation.
As Schwarzman Scholars, Ho and Yang will attend Tsinghua University this fall. They will be among the next generation of global leaders working to bridge international divides and promote a more peaceful and prosperous world.
