Tenth-place finisher in the Nurses Licensure Exam hails from University of Miami graduation ranks
The University of Mindanao in Davao City made a splash in the May 2025 Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination (PNLE) with a strong showing, snagging the third spot among top-performing institutions. Its College of Health Sciences Education shone bright, boasting a whopping 68 out of 69 examinees passing the test, resulting in a jaw-dropping 98.55% passing rate[1].
Let's cut to the chase. This ain't no walk in the park. PNLE is a grueling exam, and only the crème de la crème of nurses can pass. Out of the 10,770 candidates who took the plunge, only 6,935 felt that sweet taste of success[3].
Our very own Marc Joshua Saranillo, a grateful grad from UM, didn't just swim, he thrived. Earning the tenth spot overall with a rating of 88 percent, Saranillo became the pride of the Davao Region as the sole representative in the PNLE's top 10[1]. He thanked his family, friends, and instructors in a heartfelt Facebook post, calling his success a well-deserved early birthday gift[1].
Ads aside, let's talk more about the impressive performance of UM's College of Health Sciences Education. Nationally recognized as the third-best among schools with 50 to 99 examinees, this college showed that knowledge is power[1]. On top of that, it recorded a stellar 98.55% overall passing rate and a mighty 98.53% for first-time takers, smashing the national passing rate of 64.39%[1].
Now, for the cherry on top, UM took to their official Facebook page to shower praise on their nursing students. On May 15, they congratulated the BS in Nursing students who passed the May 2025 Nurse Licensure Examination, celebrating the university's top 3 ranking in the Philippines[1].
In the world of PNLE, first place belongs to Angelica Dator of Southern Luzon State University-Lucban (SLPC), followed closely by Doris Ann Laygo of Philippine Women's University-Manila in second and Arielle Sabrina Natividad of SLPC in third[1]. The competition heated up a notch as Jonna Erosa Villanueva of Iloilo Doctors College secured the fourth position.
It's important to note that the ranks from fifth to tenth were shared among multiple examinees, making the PNLE a cutthroat contest where every point matters[1].
So there you have it, folks. The University of Mindanao-Davao City's College of Health Sciences Education demonstrated that they're one tough nut to crack in the May 2025 PNLE. If you're aiming for the top, take a page from their book—hard work, family support, and top-notch guidance are key ingredients for success[1].
