BSNL Launches Advanced Training Program in Collaboration with Tech Giants

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has partnered with Ericsson India Pvt. Ltd., Qualcomm Technologies Inc., Cisco Systems, and Nokia Solutions and Networks India Pvt. Ltd. to launch a comprehensive advanced training program at its apex training institute, Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar Institute of Telecom Training (BRBRAITT) in Jabalpur. The initiative aims to train over 2,000 students annually and is part of a broader government effort to develop a future-ready digital workforce aligned with Digital India and Skill India missions.

The partnerships involve establishing dedicated centres of excellence and labs focusing on 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), networking, and other digital technologies.

Ericsson's 5G Centre of Excellence

Ericsson India will establish a dedicated 5G Centre of Excellence at BRBRAITT, providing hands-on 5G training and online learning modules under the Ericsson Educate Program for 2,000+ students annually. The centre will focus on next-generation mobile technologies, supporting the development of a skilled and future-ready telecom workforce.

Qualcomm's Qualcomm Institute

Qualcomm Technologies Inc. will set up a Qualcomm Institute at BRBRAITT, focusing on advanced 5G and AI training for students, BSNL trainers, and government stakeholders. The initiative includes premium online content, live sessions, and internships, with sponsorship for the first 100 participants in the inaugural year.

Cisco's Cisco Networking Academy Program

Cisco Systems will enhance skills in networking, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure through its Cisco Networking Academy Program, providing free access to online curriculum and digital tools. The collaboration aims to promote equitable access to digital learning across non-profit educational institutions nationwide.

Nokia's 5G and AI/ML Laboratory

Nokia Solutions and Networks India Pvt. Ltd. will support the creation of a 5G Centre of Excellence and AI/ML Lab at BRBRAITT, training 300 students annually in 5G radio, core networks, and AI/ML applications. The joint laboratory will emphasize practical skills development and research.

These MoUs were signed in August 2025 in the presence of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and other senior officials. The program is a foundational step towards establishing the Telecom Innovation, Research, and Training Centre (TIRTC) at BRBRAITT, aimed at fostering telecom research, skill building, innovation, and entrepreneurship in India.

The advance training initiatives will position BRBRAITT as a hub for advanced, scalable, and industry-relevant digital skill development, and TIRTC will support product innovation, prototyping, and telecom entrepreneurship in the long term. The collaborations seek to create a digitally enabled, job-ready youth workforce, strengthening the Indian telecom sector’s talent pool for emerging technologies like 5G, AI/ML, and IoT, supporting BSNL’s network expansion plans and India’s digital transformation agenda. The program will train over 2,000 students annually, with Phase 1 investments exceeding ₹1 crore.

The collaboration with Ericsson India will offer finance for 2,000+ students annually to gain hands-on 5G training through the Ericsson Educate Program, focusing on next-generation mobile technologies within the context of education-and-self-development.

Qualcomm's Qualcomm Institute will provide technology-centered learning opportunities, sponsoring 100 participants in its advanced 5G and AI training program for students, BSNL trainers, and government stakeholders, thereby promoting education-and-self-development.
