SPD anticipates the launch of the "Female Academy"
Oberhausen, Germany - Claudia Salwik, the city council member and spokesperson for equal opportunities in the SPD faction, has announced the start of the first Oberhausen 'Girls' Academy'. The initiative, set to begin in April, aims to enrich the educational landscape of the city and inspire girls in Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Technology (MINT) fields.
The Girls' Academy will focus on attracting students for the Oberhausen business landscape and encouraging them to pursue MINT professions in regional companies. Salwik expressed her gratitude to the entrepreneurs and companies already participating in the Girls' Academy and expressed hope for continued growth in the number of companies supporting the programme.
The Girls' Academy is a continuation of the already established Girls' Days, with a more comprehensive and sustained approach. Each year, 20 students from different, higher-level schools will be supported by the Academy. The Academy also plans to accompany future employees on their way to studies and training.
Salwik emphasised the networking aspect of the Girls' Academy, with students, companies, and the university working together to provide a supportive and inspiring environment for young girls. The Academy will also support the offer of 'Lab4U', an educational science app.
