Social Media Children's Photos Discussion for Parents' Online Meeting
Online Parent Meeting Focuses on Children's Online Privacy
Parents are invited to an upcoming online meeting, scheduled for Thursday, November 9th, at 7 PM, to discuss the implications of sharing children's photos on social media platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook. The meeting, which will take place via Zoom, is part of a series that has been running since 2021, organised by the Action Youth Protection and Prevention Network Children in Poverty in Pforzheim.
The focus of the meeting, led by Associate Professor Amanda Third, will be on involving children in decisions about taking and sharing their photos or videos online, respecting their consent, and guiding parents on how to share images responsibly. The session will emphasise the importance of explaining to children why a photo is taken, asking for their permission to share, and discussing with them who can see these images to promote respectful and safe digital behaviour.
Alexander Paul from Action Youth Protection will provide examples on safe and responsible online sharing, while highlighting the potential risks associated with sharing children's photos online. The meeting aims to discuss the safety of sharing children's photos online and will include a group discussion and an opportunity to ask open questions.
Registration for the event is required, and can be done at https://www.netzwerk-kinderarmut-pf.de/anmeldung-veranstaltung.html. After successful registration, an access link will be sent via email.
The term "Sharenting" will be a focus in the meeting, referring to parents who habitually share photos and videos of their children. The meeting is intended for parents, and will provide valuable insights into the digital world, helping them navigate the complexities of social media and protect their children's privacy.
