Six Nations Surge in Innovation; WHO Boosts Global Health Initiatives
Innovation and health have seen significant developments worldwide. Six countries have made remarkable strides in innovation, while the World Health Organization (WHO) has taken steps to improve global health. Meanwhile, the issue of health worker migration and attacks on schools in Nigeria have come into focus.
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Brazil, Mauritius, Bahrain, and Jordan have made the fastest progress in innovation in the last five years, joining the ranks of the most innovative countries like Switzerland, Sweden, the United States, the Republic of Korea, and Singapore. Middle-income economies, led by China, India, and Türkiye, have also continued to climb the innovation ladder, with China making it into the top 10 of the Global Innovation Index for the first time.
The progress in innovation and health initiatives worldwide is encouraging, but challenges remain. The WHO's decision on sunscreen and calls for fairer health worker migration are steps in the right direction. However, the issue of health worker migration and attacks on schools in Nigeria require urgent attention and action from governments and international organizations.
