NDP MLA Jacqueline Roy paid a visit to the school, sharing with reporters on Monday her dismay at the students and staff having to share a portable classroom, which has been divided to accommodate two separate classes.

"It's so bad that I'm not even sure if you could call it a school anymore," Roy asserted, drawing from her 17-year teaching career to claim it as the worst school she's ever seen.

Notably absent from the high school curriculum are science labs, and essential amenities are hard to come by. "There isn't a gym. The gym is in the hallway. It lacks numerous facilities that a school should have," Roy added.

Minister of Education Everett Hindley acknowledged the division's request for improvement, which was submitted just three months ago. "I understand that the request was only made this past February," he clarified.

Whilst stressing the close collaboration between the ministry and school divisions, Hindley indicated that ministry officials and the Ponteix school board have been in contact. Additionally, he hinted at the possibility of budgetary allocations for addressing the school's needs in the 2026-27 fiscal year.
