Secure Commute on Roadways for the Upcoming School Year by Munich's Federal Police Directorate
As the school year 2025/2026 approaches, the Federal Police in Bavaria are taking steps to ensure the safety of schoolchildren, particularly those who travel by train.
The Federal Police Inspectorate Würzburg, responsible for the safety of rail and railway facilities in Lower Franconia and parts of Upper Franconia, is stepping up its preventive measures. The Inspectorate, which is also affiliated with the Federal Police Stations Aschaffenburg and Bamberg, is focusing on the 5th grades at the start of the school year.
Nora Zeidler, the contact person at the Federal Police Inspectorate Würzburg, is leading these efforts. She recommends that parents and guardians walk the new school route with their children, pointing out potential dangers. One of the main concerns is carelessness, smartphone use, and headphone use near railway tracks and crossings, which can lead to serious accidents.
Overhead lines can also pose a fatal risk with careless behaviour. The aim of these preventive measures is to sensitize students to the dangers on railway facilities.

The Federal Police also remind the public that the dangers of entering railway tracks and crossings are often underestimated, especially during the first days after school starts when there is a higher number of children and young people on the move.
The Federal Police in Munich has also issued a reminder about the dangers in rail traffic. The Federal Police Inspectorate Würzburg's local area of responsibility covers the entire Lower Franconia and parts of Upper Franconia.
Schoolchildren in Bavaria will begin their new academic year on Tuesday, 16th September, with many of them travelling to school by train. The Federal Police urge everyone to stay vigilant and follow safety guidelines to ensure a safe and incident-free school year.
