Second semester is right around the corner
Chaos Week Returns to Dresden Volkshochschule for Fall/Winter 2025/26
The Dresden Volkshochschule (VHS Dresden) is gearing up for an exciting new semester, starting on September 1, 2023. Among the various events and courses on offer, the much-anticipated Chaos Week will take place from November 3 to 9, 2025.
The "Digital and Media" category during Chaos Week will focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), presenting both its risks and practical applications. Frank Astor's stage show on AI and ethics, scheduled for September 4, 2025, is a prelude to this theme.
The Chaos Week schedule, course offerings, and registration details are yet to be officially released. However, general VHS Dresden fall/winter offerings include cultural, creative, language, and social courses. Children's dance courses in the rehearsal room at Panometer and the "Chaos-Woche" for last-minute sign-ups are already part of the programme.
For the most accurate and detailed information about the Chaos Week courses, including the schedule, specific course titles, times, instructors, and curricular content, it is recommended to directly consult the VHS Dresden website close to the start of the fall/winter term or contact the VHS Dresden administration.
In addition to Chaos Week, the semester will offer over 2,300 courses, with some available online. The "Successful Learning" course aims to assist students with school grades and homework, while the "How long will my pocket money last?" course is designed for 5th and 6th graders to manage their money.
For those interested in health and fitness, around 450 health courses will be available, including Vinyasa Yoga for men and climbing on the bouldering wall. A new course, "Improvisation Theater", will be available for creative minds starting in January.
The semester will also feature a series of country evenings, including a "Georgian Evening", the "Chinese Moon Festival", and the "Arabic Sugar Festival". The event "When everything crumbles" will feature a conversation with Saxon Police President Jörg Kubiessa.
Furthermore, the series "Fundamental Questions of Time" will discuss topics such as security, intuition, and state power. Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer will address citizens' questions in the "Straight Talk" series.
Despite financial support, the university has had to raise prices in some areas due to challenges. However, all information about the new program and registration can be found online.
