Florida A&M University Celebrates Student Achievements in Art and Design

Florida A&M University (FAMU) has recently recognised a number of students for their exceptional achievements in the fields of Digital Photography, Graphic Design, Illustration, Web Design, and Digital Media.

Arianna Meyer, Margaret Beaver, Kelly Serio, Svetoslava Wilcox, Morgan Whitman, Darith Sorn, Sophia Perez, and Cynthia-Leigh Andreacchio have all earned degrees in their respective disciplines. Meyer obtained an Associate of Occupational Studies in Digital Photography, while Beaver, Serio, and Wilcox each earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Illustration, and Web Design respectively. Whitman, Sorn, and Perez also earned Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Illustration.

In addition to these graduates, several students have also been awarded Undergraduate Certificates. Joseph Moroz earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Photography, Mariah Osmond in Digital Photography, and Maria Jose Nunez Bonequi in Illustration.

The Academic Excellence program at FAMU offers recognition to students who excel in Bachelor's Degree, Associate Degree, and Undergraduate Certificate programs. There are three levels of recognition: Honor Roll, Honor Roll with Distinction, and a President's List.

Earning Honor Roll honors comes with an official letter of recognition and a resume_honor reflecting their consistent hard work and talent. Students such as Eric Rodriguez, Carl Plesner, Becky Allen, Elena Manalp, Elizabeth Brown Nuckols, Wathana Keth, Madeline Kelly, Serena Murry-Webb, Hadley Roman, Brandy Pruyne, Bianca Roncarati, Walter Rice, Stefanos Dardanos, James Darden, Braedyn Karis-Ohanna, and Walter Aaron have all achieved this distinction.

For first-time in college (FTIC) or freshman students, taking the SLS 1101 course is a requirement for the Academic Excellence program. This course helps new students transition successfully to academic and student life, connecting them with campus resources and developing essential academic success skills. Students with 30 or more credit hours can take the online SLS 1101E course, which focuses on creating an academic and career plan through various assessments and experiential learning activities.

Students whose major is undecided or need to change their major after the first semester because they did not meet minimum requirements for limited access programs must take the SLS 1102 online course, which emphasizes professional and career development.

This structured sequence of courses is part of the Academic Excellence program to support student academic success and career planning. FAMU continues to foster an environment that encourages and rewards academic excellence and career readiness among its students.

Arianna Meyer, who obtained an Associate of Occupational Studies in Digital Photography, showcased her talents in graphic design through her studies, demonstrating a strong potential for future growth in education-and-self-development courses focused on learning advanced techniques in this field.

As part of Florida A&M University's focus on academic excellence, the Academic Excellence program also offers courses such as SLS 1101, which encourages first-time in college students to explore their interests in various fields, including graphic design, to find their ideal career paths by means of learning and self-discovery.
