Saarbrücken's Ost Primary School Extension Opens April 28
The long-awaited extension of the voluntary full-day primary school Ost in Saarbrücken is finally complete and set to open on Monday, April 28. The new building, designed by an unnamed architect, spans five floors and offers a wealth of facilities to cater to the growing needs of the school.
The ground floor houses essential administrative spaces, including offices for the social-pedagogical area and a library. The basement, however, is where students can enjoy a modern kitchen and a large dining hall that can accommodate up to 200 students at a time.
The first two upper floors are dedicated to after-school activities, featuring a movement room for physical education and a tea kitchen for relaxation. The third floor is devoted to cultural education, boasting a theater hall and an art room, encouraging creativity and expression.
Accessibility has been a key focus in the design, with all floors equipped with modern sanitary facilities and a generous ramp system and elevator ensuring barrier-free access for all students.
The extension, which took almost three and a half years to complete, adds an impressive 2,400 square meters of space to the school. With a total construction cost of around 12.5 million euros, the new building promises to provide comprehensive infrastructure for full-day care, enhancing the educational experience for the students of the voluntary full-day primary school Ost.
