Rutgers senior vice president identified as the lone contender for the upcoming UT Dallas presidency position

Fresh Take:

Looks like the University of Texas at Dallas will have a fresh face in the top seat soon!

The University of Texas System Board of Regents announced yesterday that they've picked Prabhas Moghe as their sole finalist for UTD's next president. He's currently the big cheese for Academic Affairs at Rutgers University, New Jersey's prestigious state uni. Moghe's been with 'em for over three decades, starting off as a young gun back in '95.

Born and brought up in India, Moghe earned a chemical engineering degree at the University of Bombay before hopping across the pond for a PhD in the same field at the University of Minnesota. He later did his post-doc at Harvard University Medical School.

According to a statement from the UT System regents, Moghe has a knack for bringing in research dollars, all while boosting Rutgers' academic and national standings. UT System Board of Regents' Chair Kevin Eltife described Moghe as a standout educator, researcher, and administrator.

UT System Chancellor JB Milliken praised Moghe for his record of strengthening educational pathways and pushing research agendas forward, which conveniently mirrors UT Dallas's strengths and ambitions.

The regents will make it official after a necessary 21-day waiting period, replacing outgoing President Richard Benson, who announced his resignation last fall after nine years with the institution.
