The Minnesota Sea Grant is hiring for a two-year Research Fellow position focused on investigating the effectiveness of mechanical harvesting of invasive hybrid cattail for nearshore lake habitat restoration. This role is part of the Minnesota Sea Grant Science and Policy Fellowship Program and is based in St. Paul, MN.

As a Research Fellow, you will be working full-time (40 hours per week) on a project that bridges scientific research and policy implementation on water resource issues. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct research on invasive cattails to understand their impacts and management.

Collaborating with host organisations, such as state agencies or nonprofits, will be crucial in applying your scientific findings to inform policy and resource management decisions. You will also lead or support outreach efforts to disseminate your findings and promote invasive species awareness and control strategies among stakeholders and the public.

This outreach component is essential for translating research into practical conservation and management actions, enhancing public understanding, and informing policy development related to water quality and invasive species management critical to Minnesota.
