Repurposing instead of discarding - Ivo Lutz aims for DIY creativity
Get ready for a vibrant and innovative three-day event as the Future Festival is set to take place in Waiblingen from July 11 to July 13, 2025. The festival, happening at the Skatebowl, will be a hub of creativity, offering a unique blend of workshops, live music, streetball, dance, fashion, graffiti, BMX, and skateboarding.
One of the highlights of the festival is the screen printing workshop provided by the Unteres Remstal Art School. Visitors will have the opportunity to create their own personalised T-shirts or other fabrics, adorned with designs, slogans, or the festival logo.
In addition to this, Ivo Lutz, a talented tailor and fashion student, will be offering upcycling workshops at the festival. On both Saturday and Sunday, from 11 am to 6 pm, festival-goers can bring clothes they no longer wear, are damaged, or don't fit anymore for Ivo to transform into stylish and functional items such as phone covers, pouches, wallets, bags, or other creative pieces.
Ivo's goal is to inspire others to appreciate the old craft and show them that upcycling is not only fun but also a real alternative to fast fashion. He has already redesigned his entire wardrobe, demonstrating that an old blouse can quickly be turned into a small shoulder bag, and that several discarded clothing items can be the basis for something new.
Moreover, Ivo will also provide tips for visitors who participate in the clothing swap at the festival on how to make clothes fit with little effort.
The festival is open to everyone, including creatives, athletes, kids, teens, and everyone else. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, exchange ideas, and immerse oneself in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
Best of all, the festival is completely free for visitors. Bus lines 201, 202, 204, 207, 209, and 210 run from Waiblingen station to the Bürgerzentrum (indoor pool) stop. The festival grounds are located at An der Talaue 10.
The Future Festival also includes offerings from the local youth council, ensuring a diverse and inclusive event for all. So, mark your calendars and join us for three days of creativity, innovation, and fun at the Future Festival in Waiblingen!
