Recognition for Outstanding Young Writers' Achievements

On Wednesday, the 2nd of April, the annual "Satzzeichen" writing competition awards ceremony took place at the Literature House in the Lower Rhine region. This competition welcomed aspiring writers between the ages of 12 and 14. All winners were rewarded with book vouchers.

The third-place winners were a trio, consisting of Lina Sander (13, Krefeld), Sam Foster (12, Meerbusch), and Mona Schlegel (14, Kempen). Lenka Kostic (12, Krefeld) secured the second place with her emotional narrative "Forgotten", praised for its rich linguistic diversity and ability to craft a tense atmosphere. Benjamin Hertzler (14, Krefeld) took the top spot with his thought-provoking poems "Mensch, du..." and "Steckbrief Mensch", which delved into the intricacies of modern humanity.

The event was skillfully hosted by Anke Zwering, the regional Cultural Rucksack coordinator. Praise was bestowed by her colleagues, Frederike Krahn, and Meerbusch author Akram El-Bahay, a fantasy writer catering to readers of all ages. El-Bahay will oversee two writing workshops offered by the Lower Rhine Literature House this year under the theme of "Satzzeichen".

The first workshop series, "The Hero's Journey", commences this Saturday, April 12th, from 11 am to 2 pm. Subsequent dates are May 10th and June 14th. These free workshops are designed for young writers aged 12 to 14, with the aim to enhance their writing abilities and connect with fellow young wordsmiths.

The second series, "Make it Thrilling", is scheduled for August 30th, September 13th, October 4th, and November 8th.

For up-to-date information about the "Satzzeichen" program, it is advisable to visit the Lower Rhine Literature House's official website or contact them directly. Literature houses often update their programs seasonally, so it's essential to get the most current information from the source.

Lenka Kostic's winning piece, "Forgotten", showcases her talent in education-and-self-development, demonstrating her ability to craft engaging narratives that explore lifestyle themes. As for the upcoming workshops, Akram El-Bahay, a fantasy writer, will lead the second series, "Make it Thrilling", focusing on both education-and-self-development and lifestyle aspects, catering to writers aged 12 to 14.
