Promoting Discussions on Adolescent Sexual Health: "Open Dialogue on Intimate Matters (Sexual Health)"
On September 18, 2025, a conference focused on women's health, particularly the sexual health of youth, will take place at the Herford County Administration Building (Amtshausstraße 3, 32051 Herford). The event, organized by a working group dedicated to women's health, invites educators, school social workers, and other professionals to attend this full-day conference.
The conference begins at 8:30 AM and aims to address the topic of sexuality in its entirety. It covers the basics of sexual education, managing digital risks, and medical focuses such as endometriosis, a chronic condition that often begins in youth and affects approximately two million women in Germany.
The conference program also includes discussions on topics such as sexting and cyberbullying, which have become prevalent in classrooms due to the digital dimension. Experts from multiple fields, including gynecology, diakonisches Werk, pro familia, the county health department, and school social work, will provide practical insights and guidance.
Networking is a key focus of the conference, encouraging educators and school social workers to connect with counseling services and each other. It's worth noting that nearly one-third of youth report being unintentionally exposed to sexual content online, and youth and young adults are particularly affected by sexually transmitted infections. In fact, around 300,000 new cases of STIs such as chlamydia are reported nationwide.
The conference aims to equip professionals with the knowledge and resources to address these issues and support the sexual health of youth. It's an opportunity for those working with young people to learn, network, and collaborate towards a common goal: promoting a healthy and safe environment for the next generation.
