Prominent Lawyer Harish Salve awarded prestigious Professor position at National Law University Delhi
Harish Salve Joins National Law University Delhi as Distinguished Professor
Senior Advocate Harish Salve has accepted an invitation to become a Distinguished Professor at National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi), effective from August 2025. In this new role, Salve will deliver lectures on the legal profession and practice, and offer strategic guidance to shape the university’s academic vision, particularly in the field of legal practice and professional development.
The Vice-Chancellor of NLU Delhi, Prof. G.S. Bajpai, has praised Salve's association with the university as highly inspirational and a vital contribution to NLU Delhi's pursuit of excellence in legal education. Salve's extensive expertise in constitutional law, international arbitration, taxation, human rights, and public international law will complement his role at the university.
Prior to this academic appointment, Harish Salve served as the Solicitor General of India from 1999 to 2002. He is also currently a King's Counsel for the courts of England and Wales.
With this appointment, Harish Salve joins the ranks of distinguished personalities at NLU Delhi, such as former Chief Justice of India, Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, who was appointed as a Distinguished Professor earlier this year.
Prof. Bajpai has expressed his excitement about Salve's involvement with NLU Delhi, stating that it will be inspirational not only to the student body but also to researchers and faculty members. Salve's future involvement with NLU Delhi includes ongoing teaching, mentoring, and strategic academic guidance, aimed at enhancing the legal education and professional training offered by the university.
