Project "Profcommands.FM" initiates its third phase at Biosk during nighttime operations.
The Melnichenko Foundation's summer youth employment project, "ProfCompanies.FM," has been introduced in Biysk, Altai Krai, aiming to educate local teenagers about the energy industry and highlight in-demand professions in the region.
The project's initial steps involved an orientation phase where teenagers were introduced to the basics of the energy sector, its significance in regional development, and the types of careers available. This preparatory stage featured interactive sessions designed to spark interest and provide foundational knowledge about the industry's role in powering Biysk and its surroundings.
A key component of the project was an organized tour of the Biysk Thermal Power Plant (TPP), one of the principal energy facilities in the area. During the visit, youth participants were guided through the plant's operations, witnessing firsthand how electricity is generated and managed. The tour included explanations of technical processes, safety protocols, and environmental considerations, all tailored to be accessible to teenagers. This immersive experience allowed participants to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world industrial practices.
In partnership with the Siberian Generating Company (SGC), the program incorporated workshops and interactive sessions focused on various in-demand professions related to energy generation and distribution. Representatives from SGC engaged the youth with career talks, skill-building activities, and demonstrations of modern technologies used in power production. They highlighted roles such as engineers, technicians, environmental specialists, and support staff, emphasising the practical skills and education pathways needed to succeed in these fields.
The tour of Biysk TPP continued with a visit to the chemical shop, where water from the Biya River undergoes transformations. Marina Sviridova, deputy head of the chemical shop, demonstrated the water purification and preparation processes. The kids also had the opportunity to participate in a "magic show" of changing liquid colours under the influence of different reagents and compared water samples before and after filtration.
The project ended with a visit to the station's museum, where the kids learned about the history of the company's main production units, industry veterans, and World War II participants who later became energy workers. Some of the tour participants recognised familiar faces of their relatives in the exhibits.
Each teenager's personal signature was recorded after they completed the safety instruction on preserving health and life on the station's territory. The participants were equipped with protective helmets and safety vests and were introduced to the main safety requirements using a well-established method.
The "ProfCompanies.FM" project has been supported by the Altai Krai Government, Biysk City Administration, and SGC. For three consecutive years, 25 paid jobs for teenagers and team leaders have been created in the Altai science town. The project also provides financial support for SGC workers and low-income Biysk families.
Polina Murashkina, a participant of the "Profkomandy.FM" project, expressed her surprise at the size of the TPP equipment. Roman Bugayets, the director of Biysk TPP, greeted the kids and built the acquaintance with the production of thermal and electrical energy "from general to specific."
The Melnichenko Foundation's "ProfCompanies.FM" project in Biysk has provided a unique opportunity for local teenagers to explore the energy industry actively, gain exposure to leading local energy enterprises like the Biysk TPP and SGC, and consider future employment opportunities within key regional sectors.
