Potential Outlook for Fruit and Veggie Cultivation in Germany and various Global Regions
Unleashing the Future of Orchard Fruit Cultivation: A Cross-Border Workshop
Hey there! Let me fill you in on an exciting event coming up this summer!
From the 25th to the 27th of July, 2025, the Evangelical Academy Bad Boll and the NABU Federal Specialist Committee for Orchards are hosting an international orchard fruit workshop. This isn't just any ol' workshop, folks. It's an incredible opportunity to gain insights into orchard fruit cultivation and marketing across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
What's on the menu, you ask? Well, with experts from all over the regions, you'll get the lowdown on Austrian orchard fruit marketing, Styrian table fruit marketing, Switzerland's high-stem label award, and apple sauce marketing in the Netherlands, to name a few. pipe down, Pierre Coulin, CEO of Hochstamm Suisse in Basel, and Hans Hartl of Arge Streuobst Austria, are just a couple of the minds gracing us with their knowledge.
But wait, there's more! We'll dive into aspects of orchard fruit cultivation in Germany, with short presentations followed by working groups on topics like funding programs, high-stem certification, the cider market, and more. Four innovative projects in the field will also be showcased – from professional inclusive work to rootstock research to walnut marketing.
The workshop proceedings will culminate in a tasting of orchard fruit products, not to mention an excursion to Europe's largest orchard area. Media representatives, assemble! We want you there to report on the action. So, spread the word: "Diversity through orchards – Opportunities for the future of orchard fruit cultivation in Germany and beyond!"
Here's how to sign up as a press representative: Send Miriam Kaufmann at [email protected] or Dr. Markus Rösler at [email protected] an email. More details about the program, prices, and whatnot can be found here.
In case you're wondering, this workshop will also serve as the 6th national meeting of orchard fruit premium marketers. After the event, a joint resolution will be developed, addressing findings and making demands on politics, the economy, and consumers.
The lineup features heavy hitters like Pierre Coulin, Dr. Benedikt Ehrenfels, Dr. Regina Fein, Kathleen Hahnemann, Hans Hartl, Dipl. Agr. Ing. Klaus Heitlinger, Markus Höölz, Martina Hörmann, Leander Jung-Lüdemann, Erik Kubitz, Dr.-Ing. Janet Maringer, Ulfried Miller, Karin Rietmann, Dr. Markus Rösler, MdL, Alexander Vorbeck, and Mag. Alois Wilfling. If you're interested in scattered fruit tree orchards, cideries, distilleries, nurseries, agriculture, nature conservation, fruit and garden cultivation, landscape management, sciences, planning offices, or just a good ol' fashioned taste of nature, this workshop is for you.
The event is financially supported by the Stiftung Naturschutzfonds Baden-Württemberg, the NABU-Bundesverband, the Ensinger Mineral-Heilquellen GmbH, the Sparkassenverband Baden-Württemberg, and more.
Know that the Evangelische Akademie Bad Boll is a one-stop shop for events in areas like society, politics, culture, economy, and church. They aim to inspire, connect, and generate new ideas. Founded in 1945, it's Europe's oldest academy under church sponsorship. Nearly 7,500 guests participate in around 140 events annually.
As for the NABU-Bundesfachausschuss Streuobst, they're the connective tissue of orchard management in Germany. They offer services like the Streuobst-Rundbrief, Streuobst-Materialversand, and Streuobst-Qualitätszeichen, as well as nationwide lists of nurseries, distilleries, cideries, and orchard experts. Since 1990, they've been organizing national and international orchard conferences, as well as nationwide meetings of orchard premium marketers since 1996 and of small cideries in Germany since 2018. All the deets can be found here.
