Partnership between ATC Nigeria and ProFuturo to address the digital education disparity in Nigeria
American Tower Corporation (ATC) Nigeria and the ProFuturo Foundation have joined forces in a strategic collaboration aimed at revolutionising education in Nigeria through digital innovation and technology. This initiative focuses on enhancing digital access and learning opportunities for Nigerian students, particularly in underserved areas.
### Key Details of the Partnership
The program, implemented in conjunction with the Kukah Centre, targets over 5,600 schoolchildren and 34 teachers across 11 schools in Kano, Kebbi, and Taraba states. Each participating school receives a digital learning kit, which includes computers, tablets, routers, projectors, and other tools designed to facilitate interactive learning, even in locations with limited internet connectivity.
### Objectives and Goals
The collaboration aims to bridge the digital divide and close the education gap by bringing digital tools directly into classrooms in vulnerable communities. It promotes innovative teaching practices and strengthens the digital transformation of education in Nigeria. The initiative seeks to improve access to education and digital tools for the most vulnerable children and teachers, thereby transforming lives and equipping the next generation with critical digital skills needed to thrive in the modern world.
### Impact on Digital Divide and Education Gap
By distributing digital learning kits and facilitating technology-enabled education, the partnership directly addresses the challenge of limited digital access in rural and underserved Nigerian schools. The initiative empowers students and teachers by providing resources and training that enable more interactive, engaged, and effective learning environments.
This project is part of a larger global effort by ATC and the ProFuturo Foundation to tackle educational disparities in seven African and Latin American countries, highlighting its scalable and sustainable impact model.
### ATC Nigeria's Digital Communities Program
The partnership aligns with ATC Nigeria’s Digital Communities program, which aims to promote technology-driven learning, financial literacy for adults, and healthcare services in underserved communities.
Magdalena Brier, General Manager of the ProFuturo Foundation, expressed her excitement about the partnership with ATC Nigeria, saying, "We are thrilled to be working with ATC Nigeria to bring digital learning opportunities to students in Nigeria. This partnership underscores our commitment to addressing the educational digital divide and ensuring that every child has access to the tools they need to succeed in the digital age."
