Outstanding Scholarship Recognition Ceremony
The annual 2022-23 Outstanding Graduate Awards, held during the fall term at the institution, celebrated the achievements of eight exceptional students who have made significant strides in the fields of Graphic Design, Web Design, Illustration, Digital Media, and Digital Photography.
Angelique Shipley was the recipient of the Undergraduate Certificate in Web Design for the awards, demonstrating exemplary academic records, impactful contributions, dedication to her field, and inspirational personal qualities. The Outstanding Graduate Award recipients were selected through a rigorous process involving faculty and staff evaluation of graduates across various programs.
The selection criteria emphasized academic excellence, distinction and impact in their chosen careers, contribution to the profession and community, exemplary personal qualities, and recognition across various disciplines. Many of the recognized students, such as student-athletes, had GPAs above 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, showcasing their dedication to both academics and extracurricular commitments.
In addition to Angelique Shipley, the other winners included Kylie Welsh, who received the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Dhani Mouttet, the recipient of the Graphic Design Advanced Certificate, John Olson, the winner of the Associate of Occupational Studies in Digital Media, and Ronald Graham, the recipient of the Undergraduate Certificate in Digital Photography.
Adrienne Schaumann, Deborah Lefever, and Kristy Ren-Hayzlett were recipients of the Associate of Occupational Studies in Illustration. The criteria for selection also included exceptional work and participation in online classes, demonstrating potential for future success as creative professionals.
The Outstanding Graduate Awards aim to identify talents that will excel in the design world and inspire graduates to push forward in their careers and students to excel in their classes. The awards span diverse fields, with winners excelling both in scholarly achievements and extracurricular activities, demonstrating well-rounded excellence.
These talented individuals were physically awarded and academically recognized for their achievements, setting a high standard for future students to aspire to. Their stories serve as a testament to the institution's commitment to nurturing and celebrating exceptional talent.
Graphic Design education played a crucial role in Kylie Welsh's journey as she received the Bachelor of Fine Arts in this field. Meanwhile, the learning outcomes from the Undergraduate Certificate in Graphic Design were also evident in Dhani Mouttet's achievements.
