Nizhny Novgorod's Technical Education Booms with 'Professionalism' Project
The Nizhny Novgorod region has seen significant advancements in its department of education sector. The 'Professionalism' project, part of the 'Youth and Children' national project, has created 16 educational-production clusters, with more planned. This initiative aims to enhance the material and technical base of colleges in collaboration with employers.
In 2025, the Nizhny Novgorod Railway Transport Technical School completed a capital repair of its educational building. The facility now boasts modern equipment, aligning with the needs of the 21st-century train industry. The school welcomed 400 students into updated programs, jointly developed with an industrial partner.
The project's success was evident in the inspection by Gleb Nikitin, the region's Governor, and Sergey Dorofeevsky, head of the Gorky Railway. They visited the new cluster in the 'Railway Transport' sector at the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Railway Communications (NIIPS). The cluster began operating in the 2025-2026 academic year, marking the 85th anniversary of the system of secondary vocational education. Students now have access to real equipment, including 'Lazutka' and 'Yermak' simulator complexes, and an updated full-size railway model complex. The modernization cost 140 million rubles, funded by federal, regional budgets, and the parent company JSC 'RZD'. By 2027, plans are in place to train over 800 students annually at the technical school.
The 'Professionalism' project has significantly improved the educational landscape in Nizhny Novgorod. With the support of local and federal authorities, and industry partners, the region has enhanced its education, providing students with access to modern facilities and real-world equipment. This investment is expected to yield a well-prepared workforce for the railway industry and other sectors.
