New guidance issued for educational programs in Saxony-Anhalt
The Investment Bank of Saxony-Anhalt has been appointed as the central authority responsible for implementing a revised directive aimed at promoting education-related projects in the region. The decision and funding for these projects will be approved and disbursed by the bank.
This new directive, launched by the Ministry of Education in Magdeburg, expands on previous themes such as democracy and peace education, media education, culturally-artistic, historical, ecological, and health education. It now includes support for projects in the areas of MINT education and school traffic and mobility education.
The total financial volume for this revised directive is approximately 1.5 million euros. The Investment Bank of Saxony-Anhalt will receive and examine funding applications to ensure they comply with the grant requirements.
Education Minister Riedel is pleased with the new funding directive, stating that it creates additional opportunities to make learning tangible beyond the classroom. The revised directive also includes the innovation of extracurricular learning sites, locations outside of school where students can participate in projects with teachers.
From the following year, the deadline according to the directive will apply, always until 15 September. This year, the one-time application deadline is until 15 October 2025. The co-financing share required of applicants has been capped at 10%.
Projects that involve students in their implementation and provide them with tailored, supportive education, training, and upbringing can be supported. The Investment Bank of Saxony-Anhalt will also conduct funding advice and provide public information.
The responsible authority representative for the allocation of funds according to the revised directive for promoting educational projects in Saxony-Anhalt is the Ministry of Education of Saxony-Anhalt, currently led by Minister Eva Feußner. The bank will also check the evidence of use of the funded projects.
Education Minister Riedel reiterates that the aim of the revised directive is to diversify the educational landscape in Saxony-Anhalt, providing additional opportunities for learning beyond the classroom.
