Music School Pupil Secures Marshall Scholarship Victory
UCLA Student Herman Chavez Named 2022 Marshall Scholar
Herman Chavez, a student at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), has been awarded the prestigious Marshall Scholarship. This scholarship, one of the most coveted awards for American college students, will enable Chavez to pursue a two-year degree at a British university.
Chavez's academic achievements and commitment to public service have earned him this recognition. As an Elaine Krown Klein Fine Arts Scholar, Chavez has been a long-time supporter of the arts at UCLA, supporting hundreds of students over three decades.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Chavez has also shown a keen interest in global affairs. He will be studying an MSc in Global Affairs and an MMus in Musicology at King's College London. His aspirations include obtaining a Ph.D. in Musicology and becoming a professor of music at a public institution.

In October, Chavez was also named an NISTS (National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students) 2022 Transfer Student Ambassador. This recognition further underscores his commitment to academic excellence and leadership.
