KisStartup Aims to Transform Vietnam's SMEs with AI for Sustainability
KisStartup, a pioneering organisation, is set to revolutionise the sustainability landscape in Vietnam. It aims to empower small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by facilitating the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) applications and supporting digital transformation. This initiative, backed by government support, seeks to foster sustainable development and innovation in management and production, enabling a comprehensive AI-driven transformation for sustainable growth.
The global shift towards sustainability has made Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) a necessity for international trade. Originating from movements like Fairtrade in the 1980s and 1990s, VSS now cover nearly every export sector. They set sustainability requirements across economic, environmental, and social dimensions, ensuring product quality, fair labour conditions, and responsible environmental management.
Vietnam, a major exporter of commodities like coffee, pepper, seafood, and tropical fruits, is facing the challenge of adopting these standards effectively and sustainably. While VSS are not legally mandated, they have become market expectations, particularly in Europe and North America, where consumers prioritise sustainability. Vietnamese exporters, especially SMEs, currently prioritise raw commodity exports and pursue certifications only when buyers demand them. However, the shifting consumer behaviour towards sustainability is making compliance with VSS a practical necessity.
KisStartup's initiative to promote the realisation of sustainability standards among Vietnamese SMEs through AI applications and digital transformation is timely and crucial. By leveraging government support and encouraging the adoption of VSS, the organisation aims to help Vietnamese enterprises secure contracts with premium markets and thrive in the global economy.
