KenGen Director Highlights Impact of NFDK Projects on Special Needs Education
KenGen director William Rahedi visited Olwa Neema Special School in Nyakach to highlight the importance of facilities built by the National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya (NFDK). The project, known as NFDK, aims to enhance learning outcomes, enrollment, and retention for learners with special needs.
NFDK, in partnership with KenGen, has completed over 300 projects across the country. These projects focus on inclusion, ensuring learners with disabilities have access to institutions where they feel comfortable and protected. At Olwa Neema Special School, NFDK and KenGen constructed a boarding facility equipped at a cost of Sh 3.6 million.
William Rahedi, a KenGen director, praised these facilities for enhancing learning, increasing enrollment, and retention of learners. NFDK also supports the new curriculum by providing proper infrastructure and small grants to cater for learners with special needs.
NFDK, with community, partner, and Ministry of Education support, will continue advocating for more inclusion of learners living with special needs. This will be achieved through funding infrastructural development projects, similar to the one at Olwa Neema Special School.
