Kazakhstan to Construct 28 New Schools with Funds from Corruption Assets

ASTANA, Kazakhstan — The Ministry of Education has announced plans to construct 28 new schools, funded by the Education Infrastructure Support Fund. The initiative aims to accommodate approximately 22,000 students across the country.

Established in response to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's instructions, the Education Infrastructure Support Fund receives funding from assets seized from corrupt individuals. The primary objective of the fund is to alleviate school overcrowding and replace outdated or hazardous buildings by financing the construction, reconstruction, and expansion of educational facilities.

Zhaiyk Makhsutov, head of the Department of Infrastructure Development, underscored the government's commitment to creating comfortable learning environments for children. As of now, 61 new schools have been commissioned, providing space for 74,400 students, with 29 schools in rural areas.

Last year, 25 new schools were built, predominantly in the capital and regions such as Mangystau, Almaty, and Zhambyl. These modern educational institutions utilize advanced technology to ensure a comfortable and practical learning experience.

To date, the Education Infrastructure Support Fund has financed the construction of 89 schools, creating nearly 100,000 new student spaces. This significant investment in Kazakhstan's educational infrastructure has improved learning environments and opportunities for thousands of pupils.

In addition to the schools financed by the Education Infrastructure Support Fund, the country is also investing in 217 schools under a national project, with 105 already operational. Another 127 schools are being constructed using a combination of budget funds, private investment, and local resources.

The Education Infrastructure Support Fund has been instrumental in improving Kazakhstan's educational infrastructure, providing new facilities and enhancing educational opportunities for thousands of students. The fund has also contributed to the modernization of over 4,000 schools and the equipping of more than 2,000 schools with modern classrooms for STEM areas. The country continues to expand its educational infrastructure, focusing on improving facilities and offering better learning environments for students.

The Education Infrastructure Support Fund, established from assets seized from corrupt individuals, is not only funding the construction of 28 new schools but also aims to foster education-and-self-development opportunities for students through these modern learning facilities. With the decline in outdated or hazardous educational buildings, Kazakhstan's investment in these new schools, alongside the ongoing improvements in existing schools, promotes a comfortable and advanced learning environment for thousands of students, empowering them for personal growth.
