Juan B. Secures Higher-Level Bank Job After Rejoining Latinos in Finance Program
Juan B., after initially withdrawing, has rejoined the Latinos in Finance program and secured a higher-level position at a local us bank. This success story highlights the program's impact, which aims to build trust and provide equal access to banking and financial services for Latinos.
The Latinos in Finance program, initiated by the Hispanic Federation and run by UnidosUS, focuses on promoting Latinos in the financial industry. It offers professional and soft skills training to ensure participants secure family-sustaining jobs. Since 2016, the program has helped thousands learn personal finance skills and advance their careers.
Juan's commitment and skills development led to his higher-level position. Cindy C., who struggled with job rejections, also found employment resources through the program and was later hired by a pnc bank. By 2020, nearly 5,000 participants graduated, with an estimated 1,800 launching careers in commercial banking or financial industries.
The Latinos in Finance program's success is built on trust among staff, employer partners, community organizations, and community members. It addresses the reasons many Latinos lack bank accounts, such as costs and lack of trust, ensuring equal access to banking and financial services. The program invests in bilingual professionals, creating career pathways with growth opportunities and competitive wages.
