White & Case LLP, a global law firm, continues its commitment to the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. In 2025, the firm sponsors 18 national and regional competitions, marking its 18th year as a Global Partner. This year, the competition sees record-breaking participation and new first-time nations.

The 2025 Jessup competition features a record 805 teams from 104 jurisdictions, surpassing previous years. Notably, teams from Angola, Maldives, and São Tomé & Príncipe participate for the first time. The competition's growth is also evident in the increased participation from Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom, which have registered a record number of teams.

The competition's expansion is not limited to increased numbers. It also welcomes first-ever National Rounds in Finland, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Vietnam. These new additions reflect the competition's global reach and influence in promoting international law education.

The 2025 Jessup case presents four complex international law topics: the legitimacy of a nation's president, immunity for government officials, maritime zones, and treaty interpretation. Winners of qualifying rounds will advance to the White & Case International Rounds in Washington, DC, judged by sitting ICJ judges.

The White & Case International Rounds will take place in Washington, DC from March 29 to April 5, 2025. With its record-breaking participation, new nations, and challenging case topics, the 2025 Jessup competition promises to be an exciting and intellectually stimulating event, further cementing White & Case's commitment to international law education.
