Good news for students and staff at Goetheschule in Neu-Isenburg, as the school prepares for a significant expansion. The new building, scheduled to be completed in November 2026, will bring numerous benefits, including a modern cafeteria with seating for 150, a Calisthenics facility, additional soccer goals, a Teqball table, and covered seating areas in the schoolyard.
The new building will be connected to the existing section of the school, ensuring seamless integration. It will be designed barrier-free, featuring an elevator, to cater to all students and staff. The expansion will also improve the traffic situation for the school bus pick-up and drop-off service of the Friedrich-Fröbel-Schule.
The district of Offenbach is investing approximately 15 million euros for the comprehensive expansion of the Goetheschule. Sustainable construction methods will be used, including exposed concrete load-bearing walls and a wooden structure. Photovoltaic systems will be installed on the flat roof of the new building to supply the school's air-source heat pumps with electricity.
To accommodate the growing student population, the new building will house twelve classrooms over two floors. Eleven of these will be general classrooms, while one will be dedicated to the subject "Performing Arts". Two meeting rooms will be available for parent-teacher conferences or team meetings.
The outdoor facilities of the Goetheschule will be reorganized and improved, with a focus on accessibility and safety. This includes barrier-free access, fire service access route adjustments, and school cafeteria delivery optimization.
District Administrator Oliver Quilling stated that student numbers at the Goetheschule are continuously growing. Currently, over 1,250 students attend the school. The expansion will provide additional sports and recreational opportunities for students, contributing to a well-rounded educational experience.
