I wasted countless job applications, only to receive rejection after rejection. For over a year, I didn't receive a single interview invitation, even for roles that I was clearly qualified for.
There were countless moments of self-doubt and times when I felt hopeless, especially when unable to express myself or when feeling professionally behind others. But I learned to utilize those emotions as fuel. I've always been a determined individual, and I decided to focus on winning small battles. I signed up for an integration course and achieved B1 German proficiency, took an entry-level job where I could employ my English and Portuguese language skills, and gradually grew my self-assurance until I felt confident applying for roles in German.
What really helped me was adopting a growth mindset. I reminded myself that speaking a new language fluently is a skill, not a fixed trait. I also realized that speaking one language fluently is a significant competitive edge over those who don't. I surrounded myself with mentors and peers who believed in me, even during my darkest moments.
Over time, this foundation equipped me not only to claim my voice but also to grow into leadership positions with resilience, empathy, and a global perspective, which I carry with pride today."

I've learned that it's unrealistic to expect candidates to meet every bullet point in a job description. Skills are important, but what I focus on during the interview is determining whether they bring the right energy, determination, curiosity, and willingness to grow with the role.
In the end, finding the right candidate involves investing time to locate someone who fits the team's values and is passionate about the journey ahead-not just someone who looks perfect on paper. This approach fosters sustainable high performance."
