Huawei Introduces Fourth Installment of Technical Training for Women in Johannesburg

The tech landscape is evolving at an unprecedented pace, with emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G shaping the future of businesses worldwide. To empower women to thrive in this digital-first world, Huawei South Africa has announced the fourth annual Women in Tech Digital Skills Training Programme. This fully funded, three-day initiative is open for applications and aims to provide women entrepreneurs and professionals with the essential tools and insights needed to grow, adapt, and lead confidently.

Running from 27 to 29 August 2025, the programme will be held in Johannesburg. The first two days will be hosted at Huawei SA’s Johannesburg campus, where participants will engage in hands-on sessions led by Huawei experts, exploring how emerging technologies can address real business challenges. The final day will be held at Henley Business School Africa, focusing on personal leadership, business resilience, and strategic adaptability.

The programme's theme for this year is "TechHERpreneur: Where Innovation Meets Ambition," emphasising the empowerment of women to use technology for business growth, career advancement, and leadership in a rapidly changing world. The mission, as stated by Vanashree Govender, Senior PR Manager for Media & Communications at Huawei South Africa, is to provide women with a practical edge and confidence to grow in a rapidly changing world.

Selection criteria for the 2025 cohort include entrepreneurial drive, innovation potential, and a business growth mindset, with a total of 40 women being chosen. Participants will receive a Henley certificate upon completion of the programme.

A new addition to the programme this year is a practical tech demo and masterclass led by Stuff, South Africa's leading consumer tech publication. This session will showcase accessible technology solutions for small businesses, including smartphones, productivity tools, and digital visibility platforms.

Linda Buckley, Pro Dean of Teaching and Learning at Henley Business School Africa, encourages all aspiring women entrepreneurs to apply, stating that the programme offers tools and perspective to make smarter decisions in a changing world. She emphasises the programme's broader mission, focusing on digital fluency, personal mastery, and confidence for growth beyond survival.

Henley Business School Africa's mission is to build the people who build the businesses that build Africa, with partnerships with corporate citizens like Huawei being a critical part of this. By participating in this programme, women will not only gain valuable skills but also contribute to the broader goal of digital transformation in Africa.
