New Orofacial Pain Specialist on the Horizon: Dr. Shahneel Ada Ahmed
Dr. Shahneel Ada Ahmed, currently completing her Orofacial Pain Residency Program and Master's in Dental Science, is set to make a significant impact in the field of dentistry. Upon graduation, she plans to dedicate her career to diagnosing and managing complex pain disorders related to the face and mouth.
Born in Kolkata, India, Dr. Ahmed's journey to the United States has been marked by personal and professional growth. Her experiences at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) have been particularly transformative. Living and operating independently, escaping scrutiny and policing, and expanding her worldview are just a few ways she has grown during her time at EIOH.
Professionally, Dr. Ahmed has honed her skills in time management, boundary setting, and work ethics. Her best memory of her EIOH residency is the extensive CPR training at the beginning where she met her co-residents. A highlight of her personal growth was the realization that music, melodies, and movement are essential to her well-being.
Dr. Ahmed's academic pursuits extend beyond her residency program. She is currently working on her master's thesis titled "Efficacy of Duloxetine and Gabapentin in changing Exercise Induced hypoalgesia Profiles". Despite not yet having published any papers, she has delivered a key-note speech at the case series in Orofacial Pain and Headaches by Harvard, TUFTS, and EIOH.
Upon graduation, Dr. Ahmed plans to secure her immigration pathway and explore what a much bigger disposable income could mean for her personal journey and her family. She aspires to work in a bustling metropolis, perhaps Chicago, and land a full-time dentist work opportunity.
Dr. Ahmed's younger brother, Salman, has been a source of inspiration throughout her journey. She wishes to work on her openness to receiving support and love, a personal goal she hopes to achieve in the coming years.
In her spare time, Dr. Ahmed enjoys spending time at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester. A few weeks ago, she was in awe while stargazing in rural Iowa, an experience that left a lasting impression on her.
As Dr. Shahneel Ada Ahmed prepares to embark on the next chapter of her life, her dedication, passion, and personal growth promise a bright future in the field of dentistry.
Dr. Ahmed's academic pursuits, such as her master's thesis on the efficacy of certain medications in managing pain, indicate a commitment to education-and-self-development, fostering personal-growth.
