Hamburg Takes Flight with Summer of Drones: Education, Innovation, and New Jobs
Hamburg is buzzing with drone activity this summer, with a series of events focused on education, recruitment, and innovation. The city, fast becoming an innovation hotspot for drone projects, is opening up new job fields and business models. The highlight is the 'Education and Recruitment' event, which will delve into the benefits of drones in education and strategies to attract talent for the future of aviation.
Kicking off the summer holidays, the drone vacation courses will be held on the premises of the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) for the first three weeks. Experienced trainers and coaches from Drone Masters Academy will be on hand to teach beginners how to fly visually and with a video goggle, drone programming, and safe handling. Meanwhile, a drone meetup on 14 July at Homeport will focus on the growing demand for skilled workers in the aviation industry. Hamburg's Senator of Economics Michael Westhagemann is set to participate in this event.
Last year, on 14 July 2022, Westhagemann collaborated with Drone Masters to launch a drone-based delivery service for transporting goods in the city. Now, the non-profit digitalization association The Interface Society (ThIS!) and Homeport innovation campus are giving away ten free tickets for the Drone Masters Academy's drone summer camp in Hamburg's harbor. The camp is open to children aged 10 to 15, with applications closing on 1 July.
With these initiatives, Hamburg is not only fostering innovation in drone technology but also investing in the next generation of aviation enthusiasts and professionals. The city's commitment to drone education and recruitment is set to open up new opportunities and shape the future of the industry.
