Grandpa Heroes: Martin Niemöller School Wins Fraud Prevention Challenge

The #GrandpaHeroes campaign and school challenge, aimed at protecting older people and involving youth, concluded successfully. The winning team from the Martin Niemöller School impressed with their project on fraud prevention, earning a visit from Interior Minister Roman Poseck and Minister of Culture Armin Schwarz.

The competition, which received 79 entries from 25 Hessian secondary schools, focused on raising awareness about fraud schemes targeting the people. The winning team's educational film demonstrated the effectiveness of intergenerational prevention and social cohesion. Their project, part of the 'Digital Heroes' working group, combined media competence, values education, and practical service to society.

The winning school also received a 'Day of the Police' event, featuring performances by various police units and information stands. The police's senior prevention work in Hesse includes measures to prevent crimes against older people and increase their sense of security. The campaign aims to sensitize all generations to these dangers. The Martin Niemöller School won the state winner's title and first place, receiving a prize of 3,000 euros. This is not their first success; they were also awarded first place in the '#Enkelhelden' competition in 2021, under the name 'Hermann-Gmeiner-Schule'.
