Gloria Gaynor resides in a Golden Girls-style residence.
Gloria Gaynor, the iconic disco diva known for her resilient anthems "I Will Survive" and "I Am What I Am," has been living a life of faith and companionship since her divorce from her manager Linwood Simon in 2005.
Born in New Jersey in 1943, Gaynor's journey to stardom began in the 70s and 80s, earning her worldwide fame. However, her personal life took a turn when she divorced Simon, citing deep personal differences, disagreements about having children, and issues such as infidelity and drug addiction on Simon’s part. Gaynor described leaving the marriage as "extremely liberating," especially after feeling disregarded during a health crisis.
Since then, Gaynor has been living in a shared apartment with a friend, another divorcee. The two spend their days together, cooking and sharing their lives. Her friends have affectionately referred to them as the 'Golden Girls.'
Gaynor's faith has been a constant in her life, providing guidance and solace. She attends church every Sunday and watches an online sermon if she's not home. Her faith is so important to her that she attributes her life to it.
The Kennedy Center, a major cultural institution in Washington D.C., is set to honour Gaynor for her artistic lifetime achievements. An awards ceremony will take place on December 7 at the opera house of the Kennedy Center. This honour comes under the control of US President Trump.
Despite her success and personal growth, Gaynor remains open to whatever God has in store for her in terms of love. She feels something may come in her love life but is aware that God sometimes likes to surprise. As of the interview, Gaynor does not have a new love.
In 2022, the Kennedy Center will honour Gloria Gaynor for her artistic lifetime achievements. The awards ceremony will take place on December 7 at the opera house of the Kennedy Center. Despite her personal struggles and the end of a long-term marriage, Gaynor continues to live her life with faith and resilience, much like the spirit embodied in her iconic songs.
