Germany's biggest student-led musical production takes place in Plaidt, featuring its grand premiere.

In the heart of Plaidt, IGS Pellenz has been making waves with its impressive musical productions. For over two decades, the school has been a hub for cultural projects, fostering creativity and personal growth in its students.

Martin Becker, the deputy headmaster and director of IGS Pellenz, has been at the helm of these musical ventures. He composed the music for the school's latest production, "Lissi." Becker believes that the musical club offers more than just a platform for performance; it's a place where students learn valuable life skills such as team spirit and critical thinking.

The musical club at IGS Pellenz is more than just a club; it's a family. Madeleine, a 16-year-old student, confirms this, stating that the club helps students unfold their personality and continue to develop. Madeleine is one of the 2,500 students who have already participated in IGS Pellenz's musical productions since its inception.

The production of "Lissi" is a monumental endeavour, with approximately 300 students involved in its creation. The military big band recorded the music, but the singing will be live, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the performance.

The musicals at IGS Pellenz revolve around values such as friendship, humanity, and fairness. The motto of the musical project is: "Where cultural projects flourish, violence withers and dies." This ethos is reflected in the themes of the productions, which aim to inspire and uplift their audience.

Since 1999, IGS Pellenz has put on nearly 270 performances, with over 150,000 audience members attending. The school's musical productions have been met with critical acclaim, earning several awards, including the state prevention prize in 2011.

Sonja Stenzel, a parent, is enthusiastic about her daughter Beatrice's involvement in the musical club. She praises the club for its positive impact on Beatrice's development and the opportunities it has provided her.

The new musical "Lissi" is premiering at Hummerich Hall in Plaidt. After its debut, the students will perform it mainly at other schools, bringing the spirit of IGS Pellenz's musical projects to a wider audience. With its focus on creativity, personal growth, and valuable life skills, it's no wonder that IGS Pellenz is the school with the largest musical project nationwide.
