Georgia Tech & Hyundai Partner for Decades of Innovation & Fan Enhancements

Georgia Tech and Hyundai Motor Company have joined forces in a long-term partnership that promises to benefit both student-athletes and fans, while also driving innovation in sustainable mobility. The deal, worth billions, will see Hyundai invest in Georgia Tech's research and workforce development, with the company's President, José Muñoz, highlighting the university's reputation and opportunities for student growth.

The partnership, spanning multiple decades, will focus on areas such as sustainable mobility, hydrogen economy, and smart cities. Georgia Tech's Athletics Director, J Batt, expressed gratitude for Hyundai's support, which will provide resources for student-loans and enhance fan experiences. One notable outcome is the renaming of Bobby Dodd Stadium to Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field, with the historic Grant Field name to be honoured with a display.

Hyundai's commitment is significant, with a $5.54 billion investment in Bryan County, Georgia, for the construction of the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America. This electric vehicle and battery plant is expected to create over 8,100 direct jobs. Georgia Tech President Ángel Cabrera praised Hyundai's investments, aligning with the state's commitment to becoming an electric vehicle production hub. The partnership offers Georgia Tech a pathway to expand its role in the electrification of the automotive industry through its hydrogen research.
