News Article: DALIA Project Plans for Future Success Following Strategic Meeting

The Data Literacy Alliance (DALIA) project has taken a significant step forward following a strategic meeting held at the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz on 30 June and 1 July 2025. The meeting, which gathered participants from various academic and research institutions, focused on summarising the project's progress over the past six months, sharing information between working groups, and addressing challenges encountered.

The meeting's first day was dedicated to discussing the achievements of the various fields of work, exchanging information, and conducting a survey on the project's progress and challenges. Participants included colleagues from the University and State Library and TU Darmstadt, the University Medical Centre Göttingen, the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz, the TIB Leibniz Institute for Science and Technology, the University Library Hannover, the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, and the IT Centre of RWTH Aachen University. The Advisory Board also provided feedback and suggestions for improvement during the meeting.

On the second day, the Steering Committee met to make trend-setting decisions for the future of the DALIA project. These decisions are aimed at ensuring DALIA’s sustainability and readiness for future demands. The strategic plan prioritises integration of the work done, publication of results, and strengthening the interdisciplinary approach that has shown positive outcomes so far.

The DALIA project, a collaboration between several universities, libraries, and institutes, aims to promote data literacy by creating openly accessible, high-quality educational resources (OER). It works closely with the NFDI4Chem consortium and other data competence initiatives within Germany’s broader research data management frameworks.

In the coming months, the team will coordinate and prioritise upcoming publications on the project's developments. Many of these developments are on their way to publication, which will further contribute to the advancement of data literacy.

The meeting at Mainz marks a pivotal moment for the DALIA project, as it reflects on past achievements and focuses on planning for the future. The project is poised to continue its mission of promoting data literacy and making a significant impact in the field.
