Germany's Federal Research Minister, Dorothee Baer, is kicking off the highly-anticipated, "1,000 Heads" initiative, a brainchild of the coalition, to entice global talent. This program takes flight "in the near future," as Baer put it, following a meet with her French counterpart, Philippe Baptiste, in Berlin. Details, however, are hush-hush at the moment, due to budgetary considerations.

A Well-Rounded Support Structure

We're already a beacon for scientific exploration, but we aim to shine even brighter, shared Baer. It's crucial to focus on the whole canvas of researchers—partners, spouses, and the little ones. "It's not just about the science; it's about an all-inclusive care package for everyone drawn to us," she stated in a recent interview with the Handelsblatt. Fine print on the specifics remains elusive.

France boasts a similar recruitment program, which is thriving, as per Baptiste, during a joint press conference with Baer. A plethora of applications at universities underscores its success, according to the French minister's interpreter. Baer underscored the importance of a joint European approach. "As neighboring countries, we're in friendly competition," she acknowledged.
