Financial seminar on youth financial inclusion hosted by Prime Bank
Prime Bank PLC, in collaboration with the Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) and its Career Club, recently organised a seminar titled "Financial Inclusion: Engaging & Inspiring Youth in Banking" on the university campus. This event was part of Prime Bank's PrimeAcademia initiative, a campus-based banking program tailored to academic institutions across Bangladesh.
The seminar attracted over 200 students from diverse academic disciplines and aimed to promote financial literacy, responsible money management, and career opportunities in banking and financial services. It sought to raise awareness about financial inclusion and equip students with skills essential for employment and entrepreneurship.
Key aspects of the seminar included:
- The participation of Prof Md Abdul Mazid, vice-chancellor of JUST, as chief guest.
- A keynote address by Md Iqbal Mohsin, Director of the Financial Inclusion Department at Bangladesh Bank, emphasizing the role of financial literacy in youth empowerment and national financial inclusion strategies aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- The introduction of the Prime Youth Account, a banking product designed specifically for students to encourage early financial responsibility. On-site account opening facilities allowed students to engage directly with banking services during the seminar.
- The presence of senior Prime Bank officials such as Shaila Abedin (Senior Executive Vice-President and Head of Liability) and MM Mahbub Hasan (Senior Vice-President and Head of Financial Inclusion and School Banking), alongside university representatives.
This collaboration highlights Prime Bank's commitment to fostering financial awareness among youth and supporting their career development in the banking sector through educational engagements at JUST. As part of the Prime Academia initiative, Prime Bank offers academic institutions a range of integrated services, including school banking and customised student accounts.
Both Prime Bank and JUST expressed interest in expanding collaboration on student-focused initiatives, research, and skill development programmes. The seminar was an effort to foster financial literacy and responsible money management among youth, conducted under the banner of PrimeAcademia, a campus initiative by Prime Bank.
