Expansion of Educational Facilities: Grand Opening of the 32nd Primary School in Spandau Marks 432 New Learning Locations

New Primary School in Spandau Sets Standards for Modern Learning

A new primary school in Spandau, Berlin, has been completed, providing an additional 432 primary school places and offering a modern learning environment for students. The school, known as the 32nd School, was officially opened last year.

The new school building, located at Fehrbelliner Platz, was realized within the Berlin School Construction Offensive and constructed by GOLDBECK GmbH with an investment volume of around 48.7 million euros. The construction process was expedited thanks to a modular construction method, with State Secretary Torsten Kühn highlighting this as a key factor in the school's swift completion.

The school is designed according to the Compartment Principle learning concept, focusing on smaller, clearly structured units within the building. This design aims to promote a more personalised and focused learning experience for students. The school also includes spacious specialist rooms, a cafeteria, and a sports hall, ensuring a comprehensive and well-rounded educational experience.

In addition to catering to its own school community, the new school building also relieves surrounding facilities. The infrastructure of the school is available to the neighbourhood, offering additional movement areas and a soccer pitch that is accessible outside of school hours, serving as an additional meeting point for children and young people.

The school's sustainability concept is a notable feature. It is to be certified according to the German Sustainable Building Council's rating system, incorporating rainwater management and energy-efficient construction. The building is also equipped with a photovoltaic system and green roofs, further emphasising its commitment to environmental sustainability.

The school was designed to be barrier-free, ensuring accessibility for all students. However, the search results do not provide information about which architectural or construction office was responsible for the construction of the 32nd Gymnasium in Spandau.

While the schoolyard areas and access paths are not yet fully completed, they are expected to be finished by the end of the year. The new school building, including a three-field sports hall, was handed over to the district in March 2025.

The new primary school in Spandau sets a high standard for modern learning, offering innovative facilities and a commitment to sustainability. It is set to make a significant positive impact on the local community and the education of its students.
