The Ust-Kulom District division of the "Komi Voityr" Movement has clinched victory in the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives competition, marking a significant milestone for the preservation of Komi culture and education.
The victorious project, titled "Ezhva yysa Syölöm" (Heart of the Upper Vychegda), intends to foster a love for the Komi language, literature, and traditions among youth in Ust-Kulom District and Syktyvkar. It also aims to commemorate Veniamin Timofeevich Chistalev, a distinguished cultural and educational figure, author, and regional scholar from the Komi Republic (1890-1939).
The comprehensive initiative encompasses educational lectures on Chistalev's life and creative legacy. In Ust-Kulom District, two competitions will be held for schoolchildren — one for creative Komi versions of Chistalev's work, and another for illustrations. Additionally, a multimedia exhibition named 'V.T. Chistalev. Ezhva yysa kolip (Bard of the Homeland)' will be developed, featuring adapted Russian-language texts of his works, field trips to Ust-Kulom District, and a conference on his literary works involving educators and students.
