Events showcasing lectures, contests, and multimedia displays: Youth to gain insights into Veniamin Chistalev's work.

The Ust-Kulom District division of the "Komi Voityr" Movement has clinched victory in the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives competition, marking a significant milestone for the preservation of Komi culture and education.

The victorious project, titled "Ezhva yysa Syölöm" (Heart of the Upper Vychegda), intends to foster a love for the Komi language, literature, and traditions among youth in Ust-Kulom District and Syktyvkar. It also aims to commemorate Veniamin Timofeevich Chistalev, a distinguished cultural and educational figure, author, and regional scholar from the Komi Republic (1890-1939).

The comprehensive initiative encompasses educational lectures on Chistalev's life and creative legacy. In Ust-Kulom District, two competitions will be held for schoolchildren — one for creative Komi versions of Chistalev's work, and another for illustrations. Additionally, a multimedia exhibition named 'V.T. Chistalev. Ezhva yysa kolip (Bard of the Homeland)' will be developed, featuring adapted Russian-language texts of his works, field trips to Ust-Kulom District, and a conference on his literary works involving educators and students.

According to Ivan Kasev, secretary of the "Komi Voityr" Movement, the project's main partners include the Ust-Kulom District Culture Department, the National Museum of the Republic of Komi, and the Ust-Kulom Intersettlement Library, with the Union of Writers of the Republic of Komi also contributing to the project.

The Komi "Heart of the Upper Vychegda" project stands as a testament to the importance of cultural preservation amidst modernization and language shift towards Russian. By honoring individuals like Chistalev and engaging communities in cultural and literary activities, it nurtures future connections to their ancestral roots.

While recent events may vary from year to year, the project's primary focus is usually on preserving and promoting the Komi language, literature, and traditions, as well as celebrating significant cultural figures like Chistalev. The project includes literary readings and workshops, cultural festivals, educational programs, exhibitions, and competitions, typically featuring traditional Komi music, dance, and cuisine. These activities serve to keep the Komi heritage alive and thriving for future generations.

The victorious "Komi 'Heart of the Upper Vychegda'" project, in its emphasis on education, aims to organize learning opportunities about Veniamin Timofeich Chistalev, a notable cultural figure, through educational lectures and school competitions in Komi literature and illustration. Furthermore, the project encompasses news and learning events such as multimedia exhibitions, cultural festivals, and workshops, promoting Komi language, literature, and traditions, and celebrating significant cultural figures.
