Kentucky Environmental Education Council Encourages Applications for Environmental Education Leadership Corps

The Kentucky Environmental Education Council (KEEC) is inviting applications for the Environmental Education Leadership Corps (EELCorps), an environmental education AmeriCorps program in Kentucky. EELCorps, administered by KEEC since 2018, offers full- and part-time positions at various host sites across the state, including nature centers, conservation districts, public schools, and waste programs.

The program provides valuable training, experience, professional development, and networking opportunities for its members. Full-time EELCorps members can expect a living allowance of $21,000 and, upon completion of service, a Segal Education Award of $7,395. Additionally, members receive health insurance and other benefits.

EELCorps members work for one or two years at host sites, with the goal of helping Kentucky learners build connections with the environment through education. The main focus is on educating communities about environmental stewardship and sustainability, making it an excellent opportunity for those seeking an entry-level career in environmental education.

Applications for both full- and part-time members will be accepted on a rolling basis until all 14 positions are filled. Priority will be given to those submitted by July 31, 2025, for the 2025-2026 term starting as early as September 1, 2025.

Notable host sites include the Louisville Nature Center and the Kenton County Conservation District. Gov. Andy Beshear encourages Kentuckians to apply for EELCorps to teach communities about environmental care and solutions.

For more details or to apply, contact Willa Dawn Bayne or visit the KEEC website. Since 2018, EELCorps has had a total of 42 host sites and 147 member positions. The program has proven to be a successful initiative, providing its members with the skills and experience necessary to make a positive impact on Kentucky's environment.
