Enhancing Supervisor Capabilities with Communication and Leadership Training: A Fall Revival of Crucial Conversations and Crucial Influence

News Article: Professional Development Opportunities with Crucial Conversations and Crucial Influence

The Office of Human Resources is offering two professional development programs, Crucial Conversations and Crucial Influence, designed to help employees navigate high-stakes discussions and drive meaningful change within their teams.

Crucial Conversations is a 4-week in-person series that takes place on Mondays, from October 6 to 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at North Campus. This program is open to all supervisors and managers, and interested individuals can register for the event. The learning outcomes include identifying problems contributing to poor results and broken relationships, keeping composure in emotionally charged conversations, identifying assumptions, rebuilding safety, finding mutual purpose, and turning crucial conversations into courses of action.

Full attendance is required for all sessions of Crucial Conversations. The search results do not provide the names of the teachers or instructors for the workshop. For those who cannot attend the scheduled dates, a waitlist is available for a future session.

Crucial Influence, a separate program from Crucial Conversations, is geared towards supervisors and managers only. This 3-week in-person series takes place on Fridays, October 31, November 7, and November 13, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., at North Campus. The cost for Crucial Influence is $350 per participant (departmental approval required).

Crucial Influence is focused on empowering leaders and supervisors to create sustainable change. Learning outcomes for Crucial Influence include identifying key behaviors that drive results, diagnosing challenges using six sources of influence, and engaging multiple sources of influence to overcome persistent and resistant behaviors. Participants in Crucial Influence will learn how to influence others effectively through hands-on practice and real-world application. Space is limited for Crucial Influence, early registration is encouraged.

Participants in both programs have expressed positive feedback, praising the programs' effectiveness and clarity of communication.
