Education authorities in Kuwait unveil strategy aligned with 2035 Vision, aiming for progressive educational advancements
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Education has presented its comprehensive 2025-2026 strategic plan, setting the stage for a transformative academic year beginning on September 1, 2025.
A total of 1,141 schools are ready to welcome students, with 950 public and 191 private schools included in the preparations. This collective effort serves a staggering 520,271 students.
In line with Kuwait's Vision 2035 and adapting to evolving educational needs, the new curricula will incorporate national and cultural content to promote values and identity. This move aims to foster a sense of belonging and pride among students.
To ensure a smooth transition, coordination with the Ministry of Health has been established to ensure clinic operations in the new schools. This collaborative approach prioritizes the health and well-being of students and staff.
Eng. Hamad Al-Hamad confirmed that the new schools will be staffed with 800 teachers and 183 administrators. The total number of teaching and administrative staff has now reached 131,969, reflecting a significant commitment to quality education.
1,380 staff transfers and 687 administrative appointments have been made to ensure a well-balanced and experienced team.
To facilitate a more efficient academic calendar, efforts have been made to improve attendance, maximize instructional days, and grant Ramadan's final week as leave for students and staff. This adjustment aims to create a more balanced and productive learning environment.
In a bid to lighten the burden on students, lighter school bags are being implemented. This initiative is part of a broader commitment to creating a more comfortable and student-friendly learning environment.
Technological advancements are also being embraced, with AI being introduced into computer science curricula for grades 10 and 11. This move reflects the Ministry's commitment to preparing students for the digital future.
School health initiatives and the updating of textbooks have been highlighted by Maryam Al-Enezi. These measures underscore the Ministry's dedication to ensuring a holistic and up-to-date learning experience.
The strategic plan encompasses general preparations, new school openings, school canteens, the updated academic calendar, and the "Baligh" program. Preparations for the new schools included furnishing them with 15,000 items, installing 900 computer lab devices, and deploying 1,400 student buses.
In addition, the Ministry has launched the "Ma'a Hamad Chat" AI tool for students, teachers, and parents. This innovative tool is designed to facilitate communication and enhance the overall educational experience.
The Ministry of Education's 2025-2026 strategic plan aligns with Kuwait's Vision 2035 and represents a significant step forward in the country's educational journey. The plan aims to promote values, foster a sense of identity, and prepare students for the digital future, all while prioritizing the health and well-being of students and staff.
